mother's day: what we really want
here are some pretty safe last-minute ideas if mother's day has snuck up on you (and even amazon can't help):
(1) quality time with family: spending time with family is often the most meaningful thing to moms. you can plan a fun activity or special meal where she doesn't need to pack, plan, or prepare anything. assign someone to be the photographer and take pictures of her enjoying herself, too. a nature walk is a lovely idea. ask her what she'd like to do!
(2) a break from daily responsibilities: motherhood can be exhausting and many moms would appreciate some time off daily responsibilities. consider giving her entire mother's day weekend "off," not just mother's day!
(3) thoughtful gestures: small gestures go a long way. a thoughtful note or homemade card can show your appreciation and love in a truly meaningful way.
(4) pampering or self-care: many moms enjoy taking care of themselves but can find it hard to make the time. a spa day, a massage, or even a simple bubble bath will surely be appreciated.
(5) support her interests: every mom has their own interests and hobbies. you can show your support by giving her a gift related to those interests, such as a new book, art supplies, or a cooking class. the catch is you need to give her the time to read her book and art her art!
remember, the best way to find out what she wants is to ask! my mom would always say she didn't want anything and i never believed her until i had kids myself. and now, i genuinely don't want anything (besides me time, not gonna lie). i got a couple of sweetie pies, what else could i possibly want? :)
wishing a happy mother's day to all!
